Malibu Wine Safari
Girls Day!
Every femme needs a girls day...right?!
Every year, I get together with this fabulous group of women. We’ve all been friends for over twenty years! All of us have busy families & careers, so it’s not easy to get us all together at once. However, every August we take a day to celebrate our birthdays! ๐
This year, our beautiful friend Vicki planned an amazing day for us at the Malibu Wine Safari & lunch at the Malibu Cafe! We meet up Saturday morning & headed to beautiful Malibu. We live about a hour & twenty minutes away, but it felt like we only live 10 minutes away because as soon as we got in the car we could not stop talking & catching up. When we arrived at the Malibu Wine Safari, the check-in was super smooth. The staff is friendly & fast. We boarded our open-air safari Jeep pretty quick and we were on our way to tour the 1000 acres of the Saddlerock Ranch & Vineyard!
The views from the property are AMAZING. There are several stops on the tour, but the first stop was my personal favorite. We got to meet Stanley the Giraffe. ❤️ Stanley is soooo friendly & LOVES eating lettuce right out of your hands! We got to take a ton of pictures with Stanley. He was so patient while we got all our pics! The next stop, we tasted 3 white wines & got to meet the two of the cutest Alpacas, Harold and Chewbacca!! Next up were the zebra! Such beautiful creatures! You just gotta be careful when feeding those guys. They eat the lettuce down to your fingers & FAST! ๐ฌ The tour ends with 3 tastings of red. One I loved & I’m not a red wine girl. It’s called the Kendrick’s Llama 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. The tour is 90 minutes long & I was sad when it was over. BUT, I had no idea what was in store for us at our next stop, at the Malibu Cafรฉ!!
We headed down the hill to lunch. It’s just a few minutes away, so we arrived there quickly! When I walked in, I immediately fell in LOVE. ๐ This is NOT just a cafe... You walk in to a huge grass area with trees, white picnic tables everywhere, oversized Adirondack chairs, two different bar & lounge areas, white pool tables, oversized chess & Connect Four games, but my favorite was the paddle boats! I discovered a new favorite drink too, the Army Navy! Delicious! ๐ (Here’s the link to the recipe: Army Navy Cocktail). After we explored & played we headed up to lunch. We had a fabulous cheese board, jalapeรฑo hummus, vegetables & yummy lunch dishes we all shared.
Lots of laughs, fun, food & drinks! Memories made for sure! If you live near or you’re going to visit Malibu, you need to put the Malibu Wine Safari & the Malibu Cafe on your list!!
Cheers to a fantastic girls day!!
